Referring a Client

At SASS, we understand that healing from sexual harm is not linear—it’s a deeply personal journey that should unfold at a pace that feels safe and manageable for each individual. Our support is most meaningful when a person feels ready to engage, and we honour that readiness by offering care that is flexible, respectful, and empowering.

To provide the best possible service, we operate from a trauma-informed framework, ensuring every aspect of our work is grounded in safety, choice, and empowerment. This approach guides how we support clients, collaborate with partners, and grow our service offerings.

  • Empowerment
We acknowledge the significant emotional demands involved in processing trauma. If someone is in suicidal distress, experiencing acute or unmanaged mental health concerns, or affected by substance use that impacts their ability to consent, engage with, or recall our support—we prioritise connecting them with stabilising care first. In these moments, SASS may not be the immediate service they need—but we remain committed to welcoming them back when they feel more resourced and ready.

If you are unsure which program to refer your client to, we encourage you to contact our intake team on 6231 0044 to discuss your referral further.
