SASS submission: Disability Royal Commission Issues Paper - the Criminal Justice System

SASS welcomed the opportunity to respond to the Disability Royal Commission's issues  paper on the Criminal Justice System. The Issues Paper invited comment on key issues that people with disability face when they come into contact with the criminal justice system. In our response we noted the higher levels of sexual violence experienced by people with a disability (compared to those without), spoke about the various barriers sexual assault victims with a disability face when trying to access justice, and highlighted areas where additional support may be valuable.
