SASS response to Royal Commission Issues Paper 9: addressing the risk of child sexual assault in primary and secondary schools

SASS welcomed the opportunity to respond to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, Issues Paper 9: Addressing the risk of child sexual abuse in primary and secondary schools. In our response we outlined recommendations regarding the role of schools in supporting students and others affected by sexual assault; measures needed to prevent children from being abused by other children; training and professional development needs of teachers and school staff; how schools can deliver effective sexual abuse prevention education; and advice on reporting, information sharing, complaints and investigation processes.
