Sexual Assault Support Service has released "It's Okay to Tell", advertising on local Tasmanian television channel Southern Cross.  SASS aims to break the silence surrounding sexual harm in our community, with the key message that talking about trauma can be the first step to recovery.  

The Tasmanian Government today released the next stage of its Safe Homes Safe Families: Tasmania’s action plan for family and sexual violence 2019-2022.

SASS has provided feedback to the Tasmanian Government on their Discussion Paper on s194K of the Evidence Act 2001. S194K prohibits the publication of a victim’s name or any identifying details in cases of sexual assault.

SASS has received its largest ever single donation from St Michael's Collegiate school. The combined efforts of the school community raised a total of $20 061, an amount that will make a huge difference to the reach of SASS’ services.

SASS CEO Jill Maxwell states, “The program was motivated by alarming findings that young people are more likely to hold sexual violence-supportive attitudes than other age groups. The Whole of School Primary Prevention of Sexual Violence Program aims to address the underlying causes of sexual assault, thereby reducing its incidence and impacts, through promoting respectful sexual behaviours amongst young people and by enhancing the capacity of Tasmanian secondary school communities to respond to and prevent sexual assault.”

Sexual Assault Support Service (SASS) Patron, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AC today officially opened the new SASS Premises at 31 Tower Rd New Town.
