SASS provides
counselling to adults and children who have been affected by sexual
assault at any time in their lives.
Counselling is a
process that provides clients with an opportunity to work through
their issues/problems within a therapeutic environment.
You direct this
process yourself, at your own pace and comfort level.
Many clients
have worries about counselling such as:
SASS
counsellors have received feedback from clients that say:
-
I’m really
glad I came
-
I don’t feel
alone anymore
-
I’m not
going crazy, other people feel like this
-
Now it all
makes sense
-
I never knew
that something that happened so long ago could still affect me
-
Being
believed makes such a difference
-
It felt
really good to have my story heard
-
I didn’t
have to go over the details of my abuse again
-
My
counsellor said it wasn’t my fault – she said it was 100% the
perpetrators responsibility for the assault
The length of
the counselling process varies from client to client. We recommend
phoning to make an appointment to come and talk about your needs and
how you can identify and achieve your goals. Counselling at SASS is
free of charge.
At SASS we

strength in themselves that they didn’t know they had
-
Change
counsellors if they want to
-
Trust SASS
to keep information confidential
At SASS we
believe survivors can go from surviving to thriving
The Melaleuca is an Australian native tree.
The description of this tree seems to sum up the philosophy
and service delivery of SASS, as well as describe our
clients who use this service:
-
diverse
species
-
it is a
survivor under the harshest of conditions.
-
The flower of the
Melaleuca is one of
individual beauty.
-
The Melaleuca is able to
self-protect with it’s multi-layering of papery
bark – our client’s trauma experiences and life in
general are very much
multi-layered.
-
The Melaleuca has a
distinct pattern of veining on it’s leaves- each leaf
has 5 distinct veins- this mirrors SASS’s 5
distinct strands of service delivery-
Counselling, Crisis
Support, Group work/training, Resources, Community
Education.
-
Just as
our clients have their own inner healer, so too
does the Melaleuca - Tea Tree Oil.
